米沢の袋町に生まれた明治維新の志士であり、正義感が強く慶応３年大政奉還に伴い、王政復古に米沢を代表し参画しましたが、その後明治新政府の旧薩摩・長州藩主導を批判し、反政府活動の疑いで、２７歳で小塚原にて処刑されました。
